Triumph Scrambler 400 XC Launched in India: Off-Road Focused Adventure Bike Priced at ₹2.94 Lakh

Triumph Motorcycles India has launched its fourth 400cc offering — the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC, at an ex-showroom price of ₹2.94 lakh. With this launch, the brand’s 400cc lineup now includes the Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X, and the newly added Scrambler 400 XC. Notably, the 400 XC is ₹27,000 more expensive than the Scrambler 400 X.

More Adventure-Focused Than Its Sibling

The new Scrambler 400 XC is designed with a more off-road-oriented focus compared to the Scrambler 400 X. It features spoke wheels, tubeless tyres (19-inch front and 17-inch rear), and comes equipped with an additional protection kit as standard. This includes components like an engine guard, sump guard, knuckle protectors, raised front fender, windshield, and adjustable brake and clutch levers. The bike weighs 190 kg, which is 5 kg heavier than the 400 X, and is available in three colour options: Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White.

Engine & Transmission

The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC is powered by a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve engine. It delivers 40PS (39.5 bhp) of power at 8,000 rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine uses a Bosch electronic fuel injection system and electronic throttle control. The exhaust system features a stainless-steel twin-skin header leading to a stainless-steel silencer. Power is transferred via a 6-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate slipper clutch and an X-ring chain.

Chassis & Suspension

The Scrambler 400 XC features a tubular steel hybrid spine/perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe and a twin-sided cast aluminum swingarm. The wheels are spoked and tubeless — 19 x 2.5 inches at the front and 17 x 3.5 inches at the rear, paired with 100/90-19 and 140/80-17 tyres respectively.

Vanilla White.

Suspension duties are handled by 43mm upside-down big-piston front forks with 150mm travel, and a gas monoshock RSU with external reservoir and preload adjustability at the rear, also offering 150mm travel. Braking is managed by a 320mm front disc with a four-piston radial caliper and ABS, and a rear disc with a single-piston floating caliper and ABS.
