Fire Breaks Out in SVP Hospital Laundry Department: Blaze Under Control, No Casualties Reported
A fire broke out in the laundry department of SVP Hospital located in Ahmedabad’s Ellisbridge area on Sunday morning, leading to chaos and quick emergency response. The fire reportedly started in an electric duct, but swift action by the fire brigade prevented a major disaster. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
According to officials, the fire department received a message at around 9:10 a.m. on October 6, alerting them about the incident. Three fire tenders from the Navrangpura fire station were immediately dispatched to the hospital. The laundry section is situated separately beside the main hospital building. Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire originated from the electric duct. Firefighters quickly used water jets to extinguish the flames, bringing the situation under control within a short time.
No Impact on Patients or Hospital Operations, Says CEO
SVP Hospital CEO Saurabh Patel stated that the fire was limited to the laundry area, which is entirely separate from the hospital’s main structure. “The fire did not affect any patients or hospital operations. The fire brigade acted swiftly and brought the blaze under control,” he said.
Authorities Launch Investigation to Determine Cause
Following the incident, senior officials including the Additional Chief Fire Officer and the Divisional Fire Officer arrived at the scene to assess the situation. For safety reasons, movement inside the hospital premises was temporarily restricted for about 30 minutes.
The fire has now been completely extinguished, and the electric supply to the affected area has been cut off as a precaution. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an official investigation has been initiated to identify the reasons behind the incident.
