Has Jethalal Also Quit Taarak Mehta After Daya Bhabhi? Asit Modi Clarifies Ongoing Rumors
Recently, speculation has been circulating around the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that actors Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) and Munmun Dutta (Babita Ji) have quit the show. These rumors gained momentum as both actors were missing from several recent episodes.

Asit Modi Breaks Silence on the Controversy
In an interview with ETimes, the show’s producer Asit Kumar Modi addressed the ongoing speculation.
“Whenever there’s any news about Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, people pay a lot of attention. At times, even sensitive or misleading information is published. Honestly, I don’t care much about such things. If I start reacting to every rumor, it will never end.”
Jethalal Was on a Personal Break, Not Quitting
Modi further clarified:
“Recently, Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) was not seen in a few episodes because he was on leave for personal reasons. That doesn’t mean he has left the show. The storyline can’t always revolve around just one character. People start speculating, but I prefer focusing on the story and ignoring such rumors.”
Why Did the Rumors Begin?
Last month, rumors intensified when viewers noticed that Jethalal and Babita were absent from the ‘haunted bungalow’ storyline. During that track, all Gokuldham Society members were shown vacationing in a spooky mansion—characters like Taarak Mehta, Anjali, Bapuji, Popatlal, and Sodhi were present, but Jethalal and Babita were missing. This led many to assume that the two actors had exited the show.
“Everyone Is Still Part of the Team” – Asit Modi
This isn’t the first time Modi had to clarify such rumors. Speaking to Moneycontrol earlier, he said:
“Social media has become quite negative these days, but one should remain positive. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a family show that spreads joy. Spreading rumors or making negative comments over small things is not right.”
He emphasized that:
“There’s nothing to worry about. Everyone is still part of our team. At that time, they were not part of the episode due to personal reasons.”
Multiple Actors Have Left the Show Over the Years
It’s worth noting that several key actors have officially left the show in recent years. This includes Disha Vakani (Daya Bhabhi), Shailesh Lodha (Taarak Mehta), Neha Mehta (Anjali), and Bhavya Gandhi (Tapu).
