Big Blow to Sunrisers Hyderabad: Star Opener Travis Head Tests Positive for COVID-19, Misses Crucial IPL Match
Hyderabad, India — Just ahead of their crucial IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday, Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered a major setback. Star Australian opener Travis Head has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently unable to join the team in India.
The news was confirmed by Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori, who stated, “Travis Head has tested positive for COVID-19 and therefore hasn’t been able to travel to India. We hope he recovers completely and joins the squad soon for upcoming matches.”
Head to Miss Key Clash Against Lucknow
Due to the infection, Travis Head will miss the important game against Lucknow Super Giants, which is crucial for both teams in their bid to qualify for the playoffs.
Intense Race for Final Playoff Spot
With Gujarat Titans defeating Delhi Capitals on Sunday, they have secured their spot in the playoffs. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings have also confirmed their playoff berths. Now, only one spot remains, and three teams — Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants — are in the race.
Lucknow must win all their remaining three matches to stay in contention for the playoffs.
As the tournament enters its final stretch, Travis Head’s absence could prove critical for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their playoff push.
