Honda Recalls 300cc and 350cc Bikes: Recalled Due to Defects in Wheel Speed Sensor & Camshaft, Company Will Replace Parts Free of Charge
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has recalled its lineup of 300cc and 350cc bikes due to technical faults. The recall affects five models.
The company informed the market regulator that the recall was initiated to address issues with the wheel speed sensor and camshaft. However, the company has not disclosed the number of affected bikes.
Concerns Over Defects in Braking System
Wheel Speed Sensor Issue: Honda has reported that during the production of Honda CB300F, CB300R, CB350, H’ness CB350, and CB350RS models between October 2020 and April 2024, an improper molding process was used. This has led to the possibility of water ingress into the wheel speed sensor, which can cause damage. If the sensor fails, it could affect the speedometer, traction control, or ABS. This defect can lead to improper functioning of the braking system, potentially causing serious accidents at higher speeds.
Camshaft Defect: Additionally, defects have been found in the camshaft units of Honda CB350, CB350RS, and H’ness CB350 models produced between June 2024 and July 2024. Honda stated that the camshaft affects the mechanical performance of the bike. If faulty, it can hinder the bike’s performance. The company has also mentioned that no accidents have been reported as a result of these issues so far.
No Charges Will Be Applied to Customers
Free Service for Recalled Motorcycles: The company has instructed customers to bring their motorcycles to a BigWing dealership, where the defects will be addressed. Customers will need to book an appointment for this service.
In addition, official workshops will contact motorcycle owners directly. They will inform owners about replacing defective parts. No fees will be charged to customers for fixing defects or replacing parts.
Booking an Appointment: To book an appointment, motorcycle owners can visit the Honda BigWing website. On the homepage, they should select the ‘Recall Campaign’ option. They will then be prompted to choose their motorcycle model and enter the 17-digit VIN/chassis number to check if their bike is affected by one or both of the issues.
