Kia Syros Launching on 1st February: 20.75kmpl Mileage with 1.5L Diesel Engine, Premium Interior & Stylish Exterior
Kia Motors India is set to launch its upcoming premium SUV, Syros, in the Indian market on February 1. The Korean automaker recently unveiled the car with several segment-first premium features. The company claims that this car will deliver a mileage of 18.20 kmpl per liter of petrol.
This will be India’s first sub-4 meter SUV to feature fully ventilated and electrically adjustable seats for all passengers. Additionally, it will come with 60:40 split reclining rear seats and a panoramic sunroof, both of which are first-in-segment features.
For safety, the Syros SUV will be equipped with a Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, and six airbags as standard.
The expected starting price of the Kia Syros is estimated to be ₹9.50 lakh, going up to ₹17 lakh.

Manual Gearbox Offers Better Performance Despite Some Body Roll
As soon as you grip the steering wheel, you feel a sense of confidence. There is some noticeable body roll, but overall, the driving experience is enjoyable. We initially tested the turbo petrol engine with a DCT gearbox, but the manual gearbox makes the engine more engaging to drive.
Since it is a three-cylinder engine, it produces a considerable amount of noise, which is quite audible inside the cabin, but the driving experience remains satisfying.
From the outside, the car may not look exceptional, but the interior is highly practical and well-designed. The second-row seating is quite comfortable, and while ventilated seats are provided, the cooling effect is limited to the lower thigh area with no cooling at the backrest. Kia claims that technical constraints prevented full-seat ventilation.
Opinions on the exterior design may vary, but despite some drawbacks, Kia is likely to find success with this model. Competing vehicles do not offer as many features as the Syros. If you’re considering buying this car, it’s worth testing the turbo petrol engine with the manual gearbox for a more enjoyable drive. However, if fuel efficiency is your priority, the 1.5L diesel engine with a manual gearbox is a great option.

Premium SUV to Launch in 6 Variants
This will be Kia’s fifth SUV in the Indian market, positioned between the Seltos and Sonet. The Syros has been designed for a more premium customer base compared to the Sonet, and the company is marketing it as a “Mini Carnival.”
The SUV will be available in six variants: HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and HTX+ (O).
While the Syros does not have a direct competitor, it will be a more affordable alternative to compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. Additionally, it will compete with sub-compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Hyundai Venue.

Exterior: Kia’s First ICE Car in India with Flush Door Handles
The exterior design of the Kia Syros follows the brand’s global design language, taking inspiration from models like the Kia Carnival, Kia EV3, and Kia EV9. Notably, the Syros is Kia’s first internal combustion engine (ICE) car in India to feature flush-type door handles.
The Syros retains a traditional boxy SUV design, with vertically positioned LED headlamps on either side of the bumper. Similar to the new Carnival, it comes with triple LED projector units and uniquely designed drop-down LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
The upper front fascia has a sealed design, giving it an EV-like appearance, while the air intake is integrated into the lower section, highlighted by a contrasting silver trim for a premium look.
Sleek and Stylish Side Profile
On the side profile, the Kia Syros features black-colored A, C, and D pillars, seamlessly integrated with a body-colored B pillar. This design choice creates a sleek and clean window line with a shiny finish.
Additional highlights include thick plastic cladding around the wheel arches and a distinctive kink in the rear window line, adding a bold and dynamic touch to the SUV’s design.

Bold Rear Design with Stylish Alloy Wheels
The lower variants of the Kia Syros come with 16-inch wheels, while the higher variants feature 17-inch 3-petal alloy wheels.
At the rear, the tall-boy design gives the car a mini-van-like appearance. The flat tailgate is accentuated by L-shaped taillights surrounding the rear windshield, while the rear bumper gets a stylish dual-tone black and silver finish, adding to the SUV’s premium appeal.
Futuristic Dual-Tone Cabin with Advanced Tech
The Kia Syros features a dual-tone black and grey cabin theme, inspired by the Kia EV9. It boasts a futuristic dashboard design with a two-spoke steering wheel and a gloss grey element running across the entire width of the dashboard. The AC vents are slim and rectangular, adding to the modern aesthetics.
One of the standout features of the cabin is the triple-screen setup. This includes two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and driver display, along with a 5-inch climate control unit, offering a combined 30-inch digital experience.
Below the touchscreen unit, Kia provides physical controls for infotainment, including a scroll-type volume control. Further down, there are dedicated physical buttons for climate control, along with multiple charging options such as Type-C ports and a wireless charging pad.
The center console near the gear shifter houses a push-button start/stop, a 360-degree camera button, and parking sensor controls. In DCT and automatic variants, the gear lever is finished in dual-tone matte and gloss grey, with an orange stripe for a sporty touch.

Luxurious Interior Features with Premium Comfort
The interior door handles of the Kia Syros come with a brushed silver finish, adding a touch of elegance. The three-level ventilated seat controls are conveniently located on the door, and the car also offers a 4-way powered driver seat. The seats are finished with a dual-tone black and grey pattern, featuring leatherette upholstery for a premium feel.
For the rear passengers, the car is equipped with a center armrest, sun blinds, and three-level seat ventilation. Just like the front, the rear seats also have ventilation controls located on the doors. For added comfort, there is a Type-C charging port and AC vents for rear passengers.
Additionally, the front row seats feature an armrest with an air purifier, enhancing comfort and cleanliness. The top variants of the Syros come with a panoramic sunroof, while the lower variants are equipped with a single-pane unit.
Performance: 1-Liter Turbo-Petrol Engine
The Kia Syros offers two engine options for performance. The first is a 1-liter 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 120hp of power and 172Nm of torque. For transmission, this engine comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox (MT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DCT).
This petrol engine is also available in the Hyundai i20 N-Line, Venue, and Kia Sonet. The company claims that this engine, paired with the manual gearbox, offers a responsive and engaging driving experience.
In addition, there is a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 116hp of power and 250Nm of torque. For transmission, it offers a choice between a 6-speed manual gearbox (MT) and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox (AT).
While the company hasn’t disclosed the mileage figures for these engines, the diesel engine is also available in models like the Hyundai Venue, Creta, Carens, Seltos, and Sonet.

Safety Features: Level-2 ADAS with 6 Airbags (Standard)
The Kia Syros comes equipped with a comprehensive range of safety features, ensuring both driver and passenger protection. Standard safety features include 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS).
Key features of the ADAS include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane Keep Assist
- Blind Spot Monitoring
These features are designed to enhance safety by providing assistance during driving, making the Syros a well-equipped vehicle for modern driving conditions.
