Maruti e Vitara to Enter Electric Segment by March: Expected Features, Design, and Launch Details Revealed
After years of working on the electric vehicle concept, Maruti Suzuki is finally set to enter the electric segment with its first electric car, the ‘Maruti e Vitara.’
Last year, during the Auto Expo in Milan, Italy, Maruti’s parent company, Suzuki, unveiled its new electric car ‘e Vitara,’ with official images of the car being revealed for the first time. Now, Maruti Suzuki has listed this car on its official website.
Teaser Releases Ongoing for Maruti e Vitara
In the past few weeks, several teasers of the ‘Maruti e Vitara’ have been released, each revealing new information about the car. It is set to be showcased at the India Mobility Global Expo, scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi on January 17.
Reports suggest that the car could be launched for sales by March. This will be a global model for Suzuki, which will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. 50% of its production is planned to be exported to Japan and European markets.
How is the Suzuki e Vitara?
Talking about the new Suzuki e-Vitara, it closely resembles the concept model. Its look and design, along with its size, are similar to the Maruti eVX. However, some sharp angles have been reduced, but most of the design elements remain similar to the eVX concept.
It features tri-slice LED daytime running lights at the front and rear, charging ports on the front edges, and curved wheel arches at the back. Additionally, the rear door handle has been extended to the C-pillar, reminiscent of the old Swift design.
Suzuki e Vitara Dimensions
This electric SUV, equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, has the following dimensions:
- Length: 4,275 mm
- Width: 1,800 mm
- Height: 1,635 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,700 mm
- Ground Clearance: 180 mm
Suzuki e Vitara Battery Pack and Series
The Suzuki e Vitara is offered with two different battery pack options (49 kWh and 61 kWh). The larger battery pack comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, which the company has named All Grip-E.
It features a Blade Cell Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack sourced from the Chinese car company Build Your Dream (BYD). Unlike other car manufacturers who export battery cells and assemble them locally for use in their vehicles, Suzuki imports the entire battery pack from BYD.
However, Suzuki has not yet provided any official information regarding the range of this electric SUV. Nevertheless, the company previously mentioned that the larger 61 kWh battery pack, during global testing, can provide a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge. Therefore, this electric SUV can be expected to offer a similar range.
