Maruti Launches New SUV ‘Victoris’: 5-Star Safety Rating in Crash Test, Hybrid & CNG Options Available; Expected Price From ₹11 Lakh
On September 3, Maruti Suzuki launched its new mid-size SUV ‘Victoris’ in India. This SUV will serve as the flagship model for the company’s Arena dealership network and is the second mid-size SUV from Maruti after the 2023 Grand Vitara. The company has not yet revealed its official price.
Inspired by the Grand Vitara, the Victoris takes design cues from the electric SUV E-Vitara. It will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, and Honda Elevate. The SUV has received a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests.

Design: Bold and Modern Styling
At the front, the Victoris features thick LED headlamps connected by a slim grille and a chrome strip on top. The SUV has a rugged look with body-wide plastic cladding and a silver skid plate.
From the side, it sports 18-inch alloy wheels, silver roof rails, and squared-off body cladding, giving it a sporty appeal. At the rear, it carries a segmented LED light bar and bold ‘VICTORIS’ badging. Overall, the design looks premium and modern, suitable for both city roads and highways.
Inside, the SUV offers a tech-focused dashboard with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, digital driver display, and a three-spoke steering wheel. The 5-seater cabin provides ample space for families, along with leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control for added comfort.

Engine and Performance: Three Powertrain Options
The Victoris comes with three engine options to meet different customer needs:
- Mild Hybrid Petrol: 1.5L 4-cylinder engine producing 103hp, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. The automatic version also offers All-Wheel Drive (AWD) for off-road capability.
- Strong Hybrid Petrol: 1.5L 3-cylinder setup delivering 116hp, coupled with an e-CVT gearbox for smooth driving and higher mileage.
- Petrol-CNG: 1.5L engine in CNG variant producing 89hp, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The underbody CNG tank ensures the boot space remains intact.
All options are fuel-efficient, in line with Maruti’s specialty. The SUV will be larger than the Brezza but slightly more compact than the Grand Vitara.
Features and Safety: Panoramic Sunroof & Level 2 ADAS
In terms of features, the Victoris is loaded with premium equipment:
- Infotainment & Tech: 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 8-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, and connected car technology.
- Comfort Features: Ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, head-up display, cabin air filter, and powered tailgate.
For safety, the Victoris is Maruti’s first car with Level 2 ADAS. Standard features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, brake assist, hill hold control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Higher variants add a 360-degree camera and TPMS.
The SUV has earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating, making it one of the safest in its class.
Variants
The Victoris will be offered in six trims: LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI(O), ZXI+, and ZXI+(O). Customers can also choose CNG or hybrid options, making it both budget-friendly and premium depending on the variant.
Price and Availability
While Maruti has not officially announced the price, the expected ex-showroom price starts at ₹11 lakh and may go up to ₹20 lakh. This positions it slightly cheaper than rivals like the Creta and Seltos. Bookings are expected to open soon.
