Customers can now find a dedicated “15-Minute Delivery” tab in the Explore section of the Zomato app. This feature is currently available for orders placed within a 1.5-kilometer range of the restaurant and is not yet rolled out nationwide.
How to Access the 15-Minute Delivery Option
To use this service, customers need to navigate to the “15-Minute Delivery” tab in the Zomato app. Here, they can browse the list of eligible food items and place their orders.
Previous Pilot Projects
Zomato had initially tested this concept three years ago as a pilot project. The service was subsequently launched in select cities like Delhi, Gurugram, and Bengaluru.
Blinkit Launches Bistro for 10-Minute Deliveries
In December 2024, Zomato’s quick-commerce subsidiary, Blinkit, introduced a new platform called Bistro. This app promises to deliver snacks, meals, and beverages within 10 minutes. The launch follows a similar initiative by Zomato’s competitor, Zepto, which introduced Zepto Cafe earlier.
Zomato’s Second Attempt at Instant Delivery
The Bistro launch marks Zomato’s second venture into the instant food and grocery delivery segment. Previously, Zomato had launched Zomato Instant, which was later discontinued.
Bistro App Now Available on Google Play
Blinkit launched the Bistro app on December 6, 2024, on the Google Play Store. This app focuses on delivering snacks, ready-to-eat meals, and beverages within 10 minutes. Unlike traditional food delivery apps, Bistro specializes in quick-service items like samosas, sandwiches, coffee, pastries, and more.
Competitors in the Instant Food Delivery Space
Bistro enters a competitive market alongside Swiggy Bolt and Zepto Cafe. These platforms also cater to instant food delivery but focus on light meals and snacks rather than full-course meals.
Zomato’s Revenue and Profit Surge
In the July-September quarter, Zomato reported a 388% increase in net profit, reaching ₹176 crore, compared to ₹36 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s revenue also grew by 68.5%, rising to ₹4,799 crore from ₹2,848 crore in the previous year.
