Accused Confesses to Killing Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru

In a chilling murder case that shook Bengaluru, 29-year-old Mahalakshmi was brutally murdered, her body cut into 59 pieces by the accused Mukti Ranjan Ray. Mukti’s suicide note has now come to light, in which he explained the torment he suffered due to Mahalakshmi’s persistent demands for marriage and claimed that this led him to commit the heinous crime.

Suicide Note Explains the Accused’s Motive

According to the note found near Mukti’s body, Mahalakshmi had repeatedly beaten him over his refusal to marry her. He expressed that he was exhausted by her emotional and physical abuse, which ultimately drove him to kill her. Mukti took his own life shortly after committing the murder, with his body being found hanging from a tree near his village in Odisha on September 25.


Accused’s Family Claims Mahalakshmi Extorted Money

Mukti’s family alleged that apart from physical abuse, Mahalakshmi had extorted money and valuable items from him, including a gold ring, an expensive mobile phone, and a necklace. It is further claimed that Mahalakshmi had once orchestrated Mukti’s arrest by the police.

Discovery of the Body in a Bengaluru Apartment

Mahalakshmi’s dismembered body was found on September 20 in her apartment in Vyalikaval, Bengaluru. The gruesome discovery was made after neighbors noticed a foul smell coming from her apartment. Her remains were stored in a refrigerator, cut into 59 pieces. Mukti Ranjan had reportedly murdered her on September 3.

Family and Relationship Struggles

Mahalakshmi and Mukti Ranjan were in a relationship, both working in a local mall. Family disputes and disagreements over marriage were at the core of their conflict. After killing her, Mukti dismembered her body and stored it in a fridge before fleeing to his hometown.

Accusations from Mahalakshmi’s Family

Mahalakshmi’s brother, Ukkam Singh, had threatened Mukti multiple times, warning him to comply with Mahalakshmi’s demands, or face dire consequences. The tension between the families and the history of violence adds complexity to the investigation.

Police Investigation Continues

The police are investigating Mahalakshmi’s murder and Mukti’s suicide, following statements from both families and analyzing CCTV footage from the night of the murder. They are also questioning an individual named Ashraf, who was seen in the footage, to understand his involvement in the case.
