Class 10 and 12 Exams to be Held Twice a Year, NCFSE Recommendation, Effective from 2026!

CBSE is preparing to conduct Class 10 and Class 12 exams twice a year. Approval for this has already been granted by the Ministry of Education. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) has also recommended this move. Under this decision, CBSE is considering conducting the Class 12 exams twice a year starting from 2026.

According to reports, the board may hold the second Class 12 exam in June 2026. This proposal has been issued based on the New Education Policy 2020.

Benefits of Conducting Exams Twice a Year

The board has stated that conducting exams twice a year will reduce the pressure on students. This approach will save their time, and students who fail will not have to wait for an entire year to retake the exam. This will help students be free from mental stress.

The most significant benefit is that almost double the number of students will be able to pass the exams in a year, positively impacting the education level. Students will learn to manage their time more effectively by regularly preparing for exams, which will reduce exam-related stress and anxiety.

Overall, conducting exams twice a year can help students develop better study habits, focus, and achieve academic success.

How Will CBSE Conduct Exams Twice a Year?

According to the board, Class 12 students take their exams between February and March, with results announced in May. After the results, compartment exams are held.

As per reports, the second exam could be organized 15 days after the results are announced, with the second set of results being declared a month later in August.
