Delhi Accident: A shocking accident occurred near KM Chowk in Sector-12, Dwarka, on Monday night (February 24) when a sudden sinkhole appeared on the road. A car fell into the sinkhole, but fortunately, the driver escaped without major injuries. However, this incident has once again raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of Delhi’s roads.
Residents Blame Negligence
According to local residents, the road had already been in poor condition, and despite repeated complaints, authorities failed to take action. Continuous rainfall had further weakened the road, leading to this accident. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.
Poor Road Conditions in Delhi
The poor state of Delhi’s roads has been a long-standing issue, with sinkholes, waterlogging, and potholes becoming common occurrences. Several areas, including Dwarka, Rohini, Laxmi Nagar, and Karol Bagh, frequently witness such accidents due to damaged roads.
Recently, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma conducted inspections of key development projects, reviewing road construction and repair works. He instructed officials to accelerate the repair process, prioritizing areas with the worst road conditions.
Monsoon Worsens the Situation
Heavy rainfall has further deteriorated Delhi’s roads, causing more sinkholes to appear and increasing the risk of accidents. The incident in Dwarka Sector-12 is believed to be a direct result of weak road infrastructure and water damage.
Local residents argue that unless PWD and other concerned departments ensure better construction quality, such incidents will continue to occur. The Delhi government has recently announced several road improvement projects, but slow progress has left citizens frustrated.
