Massive Fire Breaks Out at Namkeen Factory in Rajkot; Firefighters Struggle to Control Blaze
Rajkot witnessed a massive fire at a namkeen manufacturing company near Nakrawadi on Monday morning. The blaze erupted at KBZ Food Limited, a wafer and namkeen production unit, around 9:30 AM, causing widespread panic in the area. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky, visible up to 5 kilometers away.
Firefighters Struggle to Contain the Blaze
Upon receiving the distress call at 9:25 AM, the fire department dispatched an initial team. However, due to the intensity of the fire, additional reinforcements were called in, bringing the total to five fire tenders. Despite continuous firefighting efforts for over an hour, the fire remains uncontrollable.
Chief Fire Officer Ashok Singh Zala confirmed that multiple teams are engaged in dousing the flames. Additionally, Wankaner Mamlatdar and other officials have arrived at the site to assess the situation.
No Casualties Reported, But Major Loss Expected
Fire Officer R.A. Joban stated that over 50 firefighters are actively working to control the blaze. The fire spread to an edible oil tanker, prompting the use of mechanical foam to prevent further escalation. Authorities confirmed that all employees safely evacuated the premises, and no casualties have been reported. Efforts are ongoing to bring the situation under control, but the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Further investigations will determine the extent of the damage.
