Surat BJP Leader’s Suicide Mystery Deepens: Last Call to Corporator Chirag Revealed

A BJP women’s leader residing in Bhimrad village of Althan, Surat, committed suicide by hanging herself, creating an uproar in the city. Her suicide has raised several questions and allegations. Forensic postmortem confirmed it was indeed a suicide.

Corporator Chirag Solanki’s Statement

In his statement to the police, BJP corporator Chirag Solanki revealed that he opened the room’s door and brought down Dipika Patel, who was hanging. The FSL team collected various samples from the house, including the fan and the dupatta used in the incident. Chirag was interrogated for three hours, during which it was revealed that Dipika had called him before committing suicide.

Family Demands Impartial Investigation

Dipika’s family has demanded a fair investigation, stating she was not someone who would take such a step lightly. They alleged she was blackmailed or forced into taking this extreme step. The police have begun investigating her call records as part of the inquiry.

Late-Night Postmortem and Funeral

Dipika Patel’s postmortem was conducted late at night, after which her body was placed in cold storage. The next morning, her body was handed over to the family, who then conducted her final rites at Umra crematorium. A large crowd, including villagers and relatives, attended her funeral.

Chirag Claims Dipika’s Son Called Him First

Chirag Rushed to Dipika’s Home

Chirag told the police that Dipika had called him, expressing stress and suicidal thoughts. Despite making multiple calls to her, she did not respond. Chirag then contacted Dipika’s elder son, Prem, to check on her, who found the room locked from inside. Chirag rushed to the house immediately.

Background of the Incident

Dipika Patel, aged 34, lived with her family in Brahmin Faliya, Bhimrad village. She was an active BJP member and president of the women’s wing for Ward 30. Her husband, Naresh Patel, confirmed family ties with corporator Chirag Solanki for the past two years.

Chirag Broke Open the Door

On December 1, 2024, around 2 PM, Dipika locked herself in her room while her children were at home. Her family informed Chirag Solanki and her husband. Chirag reached the house, broke open the door, and found Dipika hanging.

Chirag Removed Dipika from the Hanging Position

Dipika used a dupatta to hang herself. Chirag brought her down, placed the dupatta in the cupboard, and called two doctors to the scene. The main door of the house was locked during this time. Later, Dipika’s nephew arrived, and the family rushed her to the civil hospital, where she was declared dead.

News of Dipika’s suicide spread quickly, and villagers and relatives gathered outside the postmortem room at Surat Civil Hospital. Along with family members, Chirag was also taken inside the PM room.
