West Indies Announces 18-Member Squad for Preparatory Camp Ahead of India Tests

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming preparatory camp in anticipation of the two-match Test series against India. The camp is set to commence at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) in Antigua on Friday, following which the team will proceed to Dominica on July 9. The first Test is scheduled to take place in Dominica starting from July 12, while the second Test will be held at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval from July 20. The Test series will be followed by a three-match ODI series commencing on July 27, and a five-match T20I series beginning on August 3.

Kraigg Brathwaite, a specialist batsman renowned for his performances in the red-ball format, will continue to lead the West Indies side. Brathwaite’s proven leadership abilities and exceptional batting skills make him an ideal candidate to guide the team in their upcoming challenges against the Indian team.

The 18-member squad comprises a combination of experienced campaigners and promising talents, carefully selected by Cricket West Indies. Notable absentees from the preparatory camp for the Test series against India include Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, and Kyle Mayers. These experienced players, who have previously made significant contributions to the West Indies team, are currently not part of the squad for the camp due to their involvement in the ongoing ICC World Cup qualifiers.
