Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma Officially Divorced in ₹4.75 Crore Settlement
Mumbai, March 20: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma, have officially parted ways after a settlement of ₹4.75 crore. The Bombay High Court directed the family court to expedite the process, reducing the mandatory six-month cooling-off period.
Chahal and Dhanashree appeared in the Mumbai family court, where the decision was confirmed. Advocate Nitin Gupta, representing Chahal, verified the proceedings.

High Court Waives Cooling-Off Period
During a hearing on Wednesday, the Bombay High Court ordered the family court to finalize the divorce by March 20. Justice Madhav Jamdar emphasized that Chahal would be unavailable from March 21 as he would be playing in the IPL.
According to Bar and Bench, the court waived the six-month cooling-off period, citing that the couple had been living separately for the past two and a half years and had already agreed on a financial settlement of ₹4.75 crore.

Rumors Confirmed Amid Social Media Speculations
For months, speculation about Chahal and Dhanashree’s separation had been circulating on social media. However, neither of them has issued an official statement regarding the divorce yet.
The couple tied the knot on December 22, 2020.
Chahal’s Petition and Court Decision
Chahal had filed a petition in the family court requesting a waiver of the six-month cooling-off period, stating that he had already transferred half of the settlement amount to Dhanashree. The court accepted his plea, facilitating a faster legal separation.
The cooling-off period is typically given to couples filing for divorce, allowing them time to reconsider their decision before finalization.

Dhanashree’s Career and Public Appearances
Dhanashree Verma is a well-known choreographer and dancer, frequently sharing her performances on social media. She also participated in the popular dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
During an episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, she had shared details of her love story with Chahal, revealing how they connected during the lockdown when Chahal approached her for dance lessons. Their relationship soon turned into love, leading to their marriage.
Signs of Separation in 2023
In 2023, speculation about their relationship troubles intensified when Chahal posted a cryptic Instagram story stating, “A new life is coming.” Shortly after, Dhanashree removed ‘Chahal’ from her Instagram handle, further fueling divorce rumors. However, Chahal had initially dismissed these reports as mere speculation.
Chahal’s Cricket Career Update
Currently, Chahal is not part of the Indian cricket team. Despite being in the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad, he did not get a chance to play any matches. His last ODI for India was in January 2023, and his last T20I was in August 2023.
Meanwhile, in the IPL 2025 auction, Punjab Kings acquired Chahal for ₹18 crore, securing his presence in the upcoming season.
With the divorce proceedings behind him, Chahal is now set to focus entirely on his IPL performance.
