Brazilian Judge Threatens X with Sanctions: Musk Demands Judge’s Removal

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X, faces demands for removal from Brazil’s Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes, either through resignation or impeachment by the government.

Currently, Moraes has ordered to block some influential figures’ accounts on X. Failure to comply would result in access cutoff and fines. The judge stated that Musk is using X as a criminal instrumentalization, meaning as a tool for criminal purposes.

Musk stated – We’ve violated Brazil’s constitution and people’s trust. Following this, he unleashed attacks on Brazilian judges through his own handle, stating that the judge has shamelessly and continuously violated Brazil’s constitution and people’s trust. He suggested resignation or facing impeachment. ‘Shame on you, Alexandre, shame on you.’

Elon Musk remarked – Principles outweigh profits. In another post, he wrote, ‘While de Moraes is threatening to shut down accounts, principles outweigh profits.’

Supporters of the former president had their accounts blocked

Brazil’s Supreme Court had initiated an investigation accusing several X accounts of spreading false information to obstruct justice. Subsequently, some X accounts were also blocked. Many of these individuals were supporters of Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro.

However, X reactivated all these accounts. Alexandre de Moraes had ordered to block or censor these accounts. However, X did not comply.

The judge stated – X has violated judicial orders

According to AFP reports, the judge said, ‘Although X reactivated all the blocked accounts, it disregarded the judicial order, showing disrespect for legal orders.’

38th President of Brazil declared ineligible for the 2023 election

Brazilian politician and retired military officer, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, had served as the 38th president of Brazil from 2019 to 2022. Under Moraes’s leadership, TSE accused Bolsonaro of spreading false information about Brazil’s electoral system and declared him ineligible to run in the 2023 elections.

Earlier, there was a confrontation between Musk and a Delaware judge.

Previously, a judge at the Delaware Court of Chancery had canceled Musk’s $50 billion package contract and ordered him to return all received proceeds. This decision infuriated Musk, leading to a setback for his two major companies, Neuralink and SpaceX.
