Mercedes-Benz EQS Launched at ₹1.41 Cr: Electric SUV Offers 809km Range, Advanced Safety Features

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQS electric SUV in India on September 16. Mercedes has introduced it in a single variant, the 580 4Matic, priced at ₹1.41 crore (ex-showroom pan-India).

The luxury car manufacturer claims that the vehicle can run up to 809 km on a single full charge and includes multiple driver assistance systems for safety. The electric SUV’s design and features are similar to the GLS SUV.

Competing with Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX

This is the company’s sixth electric car in its Indian lineup and will compete with the Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX. It has been launched right after the flagship electric car EQS Maybach. The EQS SUV is positioned between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV. In India, the Mercedes-Benz EQS competes with electric cars like the Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX.

Exterior: 19-Inch Alloy Wheels and LED Lighting Setup

The Mercedes-Benz EQS has considerably less chrome compared to the Maybach EQS on its exterior and lacks the signature dual-tone paint scheme of the Maybach, though it features deep-dish alloy wheels. Size-wise, this car is similar to the Mercedes-Benz GLS, measuring 5125mm in length, 1959mm in width, and 1718mm in height.

The front of the Mercedes-Benz EQS features a large closed grille with the Mercedes-Benz logo in the center and sleek LED headlights on either side. Additionally, it has a connected LED DRL strip covering the entire width of the bonnet and a large bumper.

Aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels and flush-fitting door handles are available on the sides. The EQS has a squared-off roof design, and the rear includes connected LED lighting and a silver-finished skid plate. Charging is located on the front fender of the EQS SUV.

Interior: Triple Touch Screen Setup

The EQS SUV’s interior features a triple-screen dashboard setup, which the company has named the MBUX hyperscreen. Mercedes has added wooden inserts on the door panels and center console. The car is equipped with leather upholstery. The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV comes with a three-layer layout that accommodates up to seven passengers.

The dashboard houses a 17.7-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, making for a total 55.5-inch setup. Additionally, the car includes a head-up display, augmented reality navigation, 5-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, multi-ambient lighting setup, personal entertainment screens, and electronically adjustable seats for middle passengers.

For safety, the car is equipped with Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, nine airbags, various driver-assistance systems, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Performance: 809km Range and 210kmph Top Speed

The Mercedes-Benz EQS comes with various battery packs globally, but in India, it is offered with a combination of dual motors and a 122kWh battery pack. This setup generates 544hp of power and 858Nm of torque. The car comes with an all-wheel drive powertrain option.

The company claims the car can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 210kmph. The electric car can run up to 809 km on a full charge. The battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in 31 minutes using a 200kW DC charger.
