Neerja Gotru, Director General of the Police Recruitment Board, has been promoted to the rank of DGP. Additionally, Nipun Torwane, Secretary of the Home Department, has been elevated to the rank equivalent to Principal Secretary.
The Home Department released the promotion orders late in the evening, which included the advancement of officers at the rank of Superintendent of Police to higher cadres within the department.

240 ASIs Promoted to PSI Rank in Gujarat Police
The Gujarat Police Department has been making continuous efforts to ensure timely promotions for officers and staff across all cadres. These timely promotions have significantly boosted the morale of police personnel.
On December 30, 2024, a total of 240 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) were promoted to the rank of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) after successfully passing the departmental promotion examination.
This year, a total of 6,770 employees, ranging from PSIs to clerical staff, have been promoted, bringing joy and a sense of accomplishment among the police force.
Promotions Boost Morale and Efficiency Among Police Personnel
Promotions not only invigorate employees with a renewed sense of energy and commitment but also significantly impact their families. Recognizing the importance of timely promotions, Gujarat’s Director General of Police, Vikas Sahay, has issued clear directives to ensure that all associated processes are completed promptly.
As a result, 6,770 police personnel and officers in the Gujarat Police Department received promotions this year. This decision has brought immense joy to their families and created a positive atmosphere.

Significant Promotions in Gujarat Police Force in 2024
In 2024, a substantial number of Gujarat Police personnel received well-deserved promotions, reflecting the department’s commitment to recognizing their contributions:
- 314 PSIs were promoted to the rank of PI.
- 397 ASIs were promoted to PSI.
- 2,445 Head Constables were promoted to ASI.
- 3,356 Police Constables were promoted to Head Constable.
- Additionally, 231 clerical staff also benefitted from promotions.
