Mahindra unveils concept teaser of Thar’s most popular car, the electric version. The event will take place in Cape Town, South Africa on 15th August, where the concept version of Thar.e will be showcased. Apart from Thar.e, the Indian automaker will also showcase a global tractor platform and a pick-up truck concept. Stay tuned for more updates!

In the teaser showcased on social media, Mahindra highlights the electric Thar’s tail lights and THAR.e badging, keeping the iconic retro look intact. The company hints at possible exterior design changes to maintain the Thar’s popularity. They express excitement about the electric vision and a legendary rebirth. Stay tuned for more updates during the ‘FutureScape’ event, where Mahindra will unveil this vision on Independence Day.

THAR.e can be based on a new platform, and although more information about the car is yet to be revealed, the company has the capability to develop it on the current Thar platform. According to media reports, Mahindra can make modifications to the current Thar platform to accommodate electric components like batteries and motors for assembling THAR.e.

The company can develop a new and specialized electric skateboard platform for THAR.e. Additionally, Mahindra has the INGLO electric platform, which will be used to create their upcoming electric SUV model.

As per HT Auto’s report, Mahindra can maintain Thar’s off-roading capabilities and 4-wheel drive by using a dual-motor setup. One motor can be placed on the front axle, and the other on the rear. Alternatively, a quad-motor setup is also possible, with each wheel having an individual electric motor. This setup will provide robust torque and traction control during off-roading adventures.

In Mahindra’s lineup, the XUV400 is currently the only all-electric car. Priced at INR 15.99 lakh, it offers a range of 456 kilometers on a single charge. The company claims the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds, with a top speed of 160 km/h. Additionally, Mahindra is also working on new electric vehicles like BE.05 and BE.07.
