PM Modi to Announce Payment of Farmer Welfare Fund on June 18: ₹20,000 Crore to 9.3 Crore Farmers’ Accounts

On June 18, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. PM Modi, representing the parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, will transfer Rs. 2,000 to the bank accounts of 9.3 crore farmers across the country. This installment involves a total transfer of Rs. 20,000 crore directly into the accounts of the farmers.

Previously, on February 28, the 16th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme was disbursed. Under this installment, more than Rs. 21,000 crore was transferred to the accounts of farmers, benefiting a significant number across the nation. Under this scheme, the government transfers Rs. 6,000 annually to the bank accounts of farmers in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each every four months.

Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, farmers receive Rs. 6,000 annually. This amount is disbursed in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each over the course of one year. The first installment is given between April and July, the second between August and November, and the third between December and March. This scheme was launched in 2019 to provide financial assistance to farmers.

Beneficiaries of the scheme can register themselves through Common Service Centers (CSC). Additionally, local Patwari, Tehsildar, and designated Nodal Officers appointed by the state government also facilitate the registration of farmers for this scheme.

Under the PM Kisan scheme, all farmers are eligible for benefits. Initially, when the PM-Kisan Yojana was launched in February 2019, its benefits were limited to small and marginal farmer families, which typically owned up to 2 hectares of combined land. In June 2019, improvements were made to the scheme, extending its coverage to all farmer families. However, there are still some farmers who have been excluded from this scheme.

Among those left out of PM Kisan are people associated with institutional landholders, eligible farmer families holding constitutional positions, and retired officers and employees of state or central governments. Additionally, professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, and retired pensioners receiving pensions of Rs. 10,000 or more per month, as well as those who had declared their previous year’s income, are also excluded from this scheme.
