Director Slams Censor Board: ‘OMG 2’ Uncut Version on OTT, Questions Hypocrisy

The film ‘OMG 2,’ starring Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, is set to release on the OTT platform Netflix on October 8th. The OTT premiere of the film had been anticipated for a long time because the censor board had initially refused to release the film in theaters, and it was expected that the producers would release its uncut version on OTT platforms. However, that is not happening.

OTT Platforms Not Ready to Show Uncut Versions

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the film’s director, Amit Rai, stated that OTT platforms are not prepared to show the uncut version of OMG 2 . Amit said, “I don’t know what her (censor board’s) apprehension is. Streaming platforms will also show the version that has been passed by the censor board. So what can be done now? The whole country is making noise, but the censor board is not listening, and later nothing can be done.”

Kissing Scenes in Rocky and Rani

Expressing dissatisfaction with the censor board, Amit further mentioned, “The board had removed a scene related to condoms from our film, but when I went to watch ‘Gadar 2’ in a theater, they had shown the condom ad before the movie. Can this be publicly shown? This is hypocrisy. I’m not against any film, but there were many kissing scenes in ‘Rocky and Rani.’ If children watched it, would it be okay?”

The Film is Based on Subjects Like Sex Education

Even after receiving an ‘A’ certificate, this film was released in cinemas on August 11th, competing with Sunny Deol starrer ‘Gadar 2.’ The film is based on subjects like sex education, and the censor board had removed many scenes from it.
