Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian-2’ Teaser: Nation Calls for Anti-Corruption Comeback, Film Release Uncertain

Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film ‘Indian-2’ has had its teaser released. Superstar Rajnikanth launched the teaser on Twitter this Friday. While sharing it, he captioned, ‘India is back,’ though the release date of the film has not been announced yet. It is speculated that it will be released at the beginning of the coming year.

The General Kept His Promise 

The teaser of the film picks up from where the first part of the film ‘Indian’ left off. In the movie, Kamal plays the role of a General who has given his word that he will stand against injustice wherever it occurs. The teaser shows that the entire nation is troubled by corruption, and a digital campaign called #ComebackIndian is running. In the final part of the teaser, ‘Hindustani’ makes a comeback.

Rakul-Siddharth Can Be Seen in the Teaser 

The teaser hints that actor Siddharth will be seen in a common man’s role in the movie. Bobby Simha plays the role of a police officer, and Priya Bhavani Shankar portrays a journalist. For a brief moment, Rakul Preet Singh is also visible in the teaser, but Kajal Aggarwal is not featured.

The teaser for this film was not only launched by Rajnikanth but also by Aamir Khan, SS Rajamouli, Kiccha Sudeep, and Mohanlal. Each individual shared the teaser in different languages.

The First Part of the Film Was Released in 1996 

The first part of this film, ‘Indian’ (1996), was released back in 1996. Kamal Haasan played a double role in the film – one as a commander of a freedom fighter unit battling corruption, and the other as his son, who is an anti-corruption officer. This film was written and directed by Shankar. Now, the producers have invested around 250 crores in its sequel, ‘Indian-2’, which was also directed by Shankar.
