BCCI Calls for Applications for Men’s Selection Committee Member

The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has recently extended an invitation for applications to fill the position of a member in the Men’s Selection Committee. The eligibility criteria for the position of a member in the Men’s Selection Committee, as set forth by the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI), are as follows:

Playing Experience:

  1. The candidate must have participated in a minimum of seven Test Matches.
  2. The candidate should have played at least thirty First-Class Matches.
  3. The candidate must have featured in a minimum of ten One Day International Matches and twenty First-Class Matches.

Retirement: 

The candidate must have retired from professional cricket at least five years prior to applying for the position.

Cricket Committee Membership:

Candidates who have served as members of any Cricket Committee, as defined in the Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations of the BCCI, for a cumulative period of five years will not be eligible for consideration as a member of the Men’s Selection Committee.

Match Observation:

  • Travel to various domestic and international cricket matches to closely observe players’ performances and potential selections.
  • Gather valuable insights by assessing players’ skills, form, and adaptability in different playing conditions.

Performance Evaluation Reports:

  • Prepare and provide comprehensive evaluation reports of the team’s performance to the Apex Council of the BCCI on a quarterly basis.
  • Deliver objective assessments and recommendations based on the team’s overall performance and individual players’ contributions.

Media Interactions:

  • Address the media on matters related to team selection as and when instructed by the BCCI.
  • Communicate the rationale behind team selection decisions, maintaining transparency and fostering public understanding.

Captain Appointment:

  • Participate in the process of appointing a captain for the team in each format, considering various factors such as leadership abilities, on-field performance, and team dynamics.
