On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to Saroj Devi, the mother of javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, expressing his gratitude for the “Churma” she prepared. The Prime Minister had organized a dinner for the Prime Minister of Jamaica on October 1, which Neeraj also attended. During this event, he offered the PM the “Churma” made by his mother.

In fact, before heading to the Olympics in Paris, Neeraj had a video conferencing call with Modi, during which the Prime Minister requested Neeraj to have his mother’s “Churma.”

PM Modi thanked Saroj Devi by writing a letter.

Letter from Prime Minister Modi to Saroj Devi

Prime Minister Modi began his letter with “Respected Saroj Devi.” He continued, “Greetings! I hope you are healthy, safe, and happy. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet brother Neeraj at the dinner event. While discussing with him, my happiness increased even more when he offered me the delicious ‘Churma’ made by your hands.”

The PM further mentioned, “Neeraj often talks about this ‘Churma’ with me, but today, after tasting it, he became emotional. This gift of your immense love reminded me of my mother.”

Neeraj Chopra gifted his javelin to PM Modi after winning gold medal in Tokf/a Olympics.

Modi Expresses How Churma Will Empower Him During Navratri

Modi stated that the “Churma” will provide him the strength to serve the country during the Navratri festival. He mentioned that he will observe a fast for the nine days of Navratri.

Just as the food energizes Neeraj to win medals for the country, the “Churma” will empower him to serve the nation over the next nine days. In conclusion, Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Saroj Devi.
