Australian High Commissioner and Mumbai Consul General Meet CM to Foster Solar Sector Collaboration

Meeting of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel with Australian High Commissioner Philip Green and Mumbai-based Australian Consul General Paul Murphy and delegation had been held in Gandhinagar. The Chief Minister praised the extensive cooperation received from the Australian delegation in recent vibrant summits to discuss possibilities of cooperation regarding renewable energy, solar rooftops, and critical minerals-lithium battery storage.

In this context, the Australian High Commissioner mentioned that Australia is a leading country globally in renewable energy and particularly in the production of critical minerals-lithium. They are willing to offer the benefits of their expertise to India and Gujarat. Logistics supply chain could also become a part of the ventures between India and Gujarat, which was also discussed.

Information provided on Solar Rooftop-Lithium Battery Storage

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also briefed about the possibilities in Gujarat’s solar rooftop and lithium battery storage sector. He was shown commercial viability of battery storage. The Chief Minister also provided details about Gujarat’s banking of power system for solar rooftop production.

Construction of a Large Hybrid Renewable Energy Park in Kutch

A large hybrid renewable energy park is underway in Gujarat’s Kutch. The expertise Australia offers in demand-supply balance and pump storage can benefit Gujarat. Valuable advice was given during this meeting regarding the possibilities for Gujarat.

Hosting Olympics in Ahmedabad in 2036

The Chief Minister announced that the Olympics will be held in Ahmedabad in 2036. After the completion of the Olympics in Sydney and Brisbane, discussions were held on how smart and sustainable usage would be in Gujarat. Detailed discussions were held on utilization aspects in Gujarat.

More Universities to Come in the Future

The Australian High Commissioner also expressed interest in co-operation in the sports sector. He provided information about Deakin University’s programs and other matters. He also expressed the possibility of more universities coming to Gujarat in the future.

Five Meetings with Gujarat in Eight Months

Philip Green mentioned that in his tenure of five months, he has visited Gujarat five times. In this meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries Department S. J. Haider, and senior officials of the Industry-Energy Department were present.
