Ahmedabad: Policeman’s Car Rams Rickshaw, Driver Injured; Beer Bottle Found in Vehicle
Ahmedabad, September 18: A late-night road accident near Vishala Circle has sparked outrage after it was revealed that the accused driver is a serving policeman. The speeding car, driven by the officer, hit a rickshaw so hard that it overturned, leaving the rickshaw driver unconscious.

Accident Near Vishala Circle
The incident took place late on September 17 near the City Gate Building, close to an ice factory at Vishala Circle. According to eyewitnesses, the car was being driven at high speed when it rammed into the rickshaw. The impact was so severe that the rickshaw toppled, and its driver sustained injuries and fell unconscious.
Locals rushed to the scene, immediately called a 108 ambulance, and shifted the injured driver to Civil Hospital. Meanwhile, they caught hold of the car driver and handed him over to the police.

Car Driver Identified as Policeman
During the investigation, police confirmed that the accused is Prakash Rabari, a policeman serving at Vatva Police Station. Shocking details emerged when officers recovered a beer bottle, a police uniform, and a number plate from inside the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses at the scene alleged that the policeman was intoxicated while driving, though this has yet to be confirmed officially.

Police Investigation Underway
The M Division Traffic Police have registered a case against the accused officer. His blood samples have been collected to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Authorities have said that the medical report will clarify the situation.

The incident has triggered sharp reactions from citizens. At a time when crime rates in Ahmedabad are already a matter of concern, the involvement of a policeman in such an incident has raised fresh questions about law enforcement and public safety. Locals expressed anger, saying that those responsible for maintaining law and order must not themselves flout it.
