Suspended Captain Ajay Chauhan’s Bail Plea Rejected by Ahmedabad Court Over ₹72 Lakh Corruption
Captain Ajay Chauhan, who is currently suspended from his duties at Gujcel, is accused of engaging in corruption and irregularities, prompting the government to direct the ACB to conduct a preliminary investigation. The investigation revealed that Captain Chauhan abused his power during his tenure. Following a complaint from Gujcel’s Senior Chief Security Officer and General Manager, a case was registered against Captain Ajay Chauhan, Keshmek Aviation Pvt Ltd Director Alpesh Tripathi, and Gujcel accountant Alpeshkumar Prajapati at the Ahmedabad city ACB police station.
Received 1 Million Rupees in Personal Bank Account
During his tenure, Captain Ajay Chauhan misused his authority by facilitating private air travel for his family members using government aircraft intended for official use, causing financial loss to the state treasury. Despite being aware that he could not offer flying duties to any other company apart from Gujcel, Chauhan provided services to Aryan Aviation Pvt Ltd. He received monetary benefits in his personal bank account. Additionally, Chauhan entered into an illegal contract with Keshmek Aviation Pvt Ltd regarding manpower supply to Gujcel, receiving 1 million rupees in his personal account from the company in collaboration with the co-accused.
Embezzled Over 7.2 Million Rupees
Although Alpeshkumar Prajapati was not an employee of Keshmek Aviation nor authorized by the company, he collaborated with Captain Ajay Chauhan and Alpesh Tripathi, signing vouchers and bills worth 460,000 rupees and other documents. The three accused collectively caused financial damage to the state treasury, embezzling over 7.2 million rupees. Their anticipatory bail applications have been repeatedly rejected by the Ahmedabad City Civil and Sessions Court, with Captain Chauhan’s latest application being the most recent to be denied.
Complaint Filed at ACB Police Station on June 11
During the hearing, it was revealed that Captain Chauhan is currently abroad. His lawyer claimed that Chauhan left the country with the approval of the investigating agency. The complaint was registered at the ACB police station on June 11. Captain Chauhan then filed for anticipatory bail in court, which required his signature. It raises questions about whether Captain Chauhan will return from abroad, cooperate with the investigation, and face arrest.
