Bird Hits Delhi-Bound Flight: Emergency Landing in Patna, All 175 Onboard Safe
An Indigo flight (Flight No. IGO5009) en route from Patna to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing at Patna Airport on Wednesday morning after a bird hit the aircraft shortly after take-off. The impact caused severe vibrations in one of the engines. The pilot immediately informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) and safely brought the aircraft back to Patna, prioritizing passenger safety.
175 Onboard, All Safe
The incident occurred at 8:42 AM at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. According to airport officials, the bird carcass was later recovered from the runway, confirming the collision. A total of 175 people were onboard, including 169 passengers and 6 crew members. Thankfully, all passengers are reported safe.
Technical Inspection Underway
Authorities at Patna Airport confirmed that the aircraft landed safely on Runway 7 at 9:03 AM. In the wake of a recent plane accident in Ahmedabad, airports across India have increased safety measures. An alternate flight is now being arranged to take the passengers to Delhi, and a detailed technical inspection of the aircraft is currently underway.
