Rajkot’s Transformation: New Railway Station and 20 Underpasses/Overbridges to be Built at a Cost of 50 Crores

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a momentous occasion unfolded with the inauguration of the redevelopment of 551 railway stations and the construction of 1500 road overbridges and underpasses across the nation through video conferencing. The inauguration marked the commencement of the “World’s Largest Railway Station Redevelopment Program.” Today, in the Rajkot Railway Division, 12 stations witnessed the commencement of redevelopment, along with the inauguration of 11 road overbridges and underpasses, and the completion of 9 road-underbridge projects. 

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to providing world-class facilities to railway passengers and enhancing transportation infrastructure across the country, heralding a new era of connectivity and progress.

Rail Minister and Central Government Acknowledge Mohan Kundaria’s Contribution

In a pertinent address, Member of Parliament Mohan Kundaria expressed gratitude to the Rail Minister and the Central Government for allocating Rs. 181 crores for the modernization of 12 railway stations in the Rajkot Division. It was announced that approximately Rs. 50 crores will be spent to construct a new railway station opposite the current one in Rajkot. 

This development will benefit commuters on both sides of the railway station. Furthermore, with various ongoing railway projects nearing completion, passengers can anticipate improved connectivity and facilities across railway stations, enhancing their travel experience.

MP Rambhai Mokaria Highlights Development Initiatives and Citizens’ Welfare

Member of Parliament Rambhai Mokaria highlighted that within the last ten days, the nation has witnessed over one lakh crore rupees allocated towards various development projects under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister has been instrumental in assisting every section of society through various schemes, extending support from birth to death. Presently, in India, 50 crore people have Jan Dhan accounts, and 55 crore individuals are covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. 

The MP urged all citizens to join hands in fulfilling the dream of a developed India on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of independence, benefiting from services akin to those in the world’s developed countries. Rajkot Railway Division was also included in the “World’s Largest Railway Station Redevelopment Program”. The live telecast of the Prime Minister’s program was broadcasted at Rajkot Railway Station.

Divisional Railway Manager Ashwini Kumar Announces Redevelopment Projects

Divisional Railway Manager Ashwini Kumar welcomed dignitaries, announcing that the Rajkot Division’s 12 stations will undergo redevelopment at a cost of Rs. 181.42 crores under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana of the Central Government. The stations included are Rajkot, Jamnagar, Morbi, Wankaner, Bhakti Nagar, Khambhaliya, Dwarka, Hapa, Paddhari, Kanalus, Than, and Okha. 

Additionally, approximately Rs. 50 crores will be spent to revamp the Rajkot railway station under this scheme. Furthermore, to address traffic issues, 11 road overbridges and underpasses were inaugurated in Khanderi, Khambhaliya, Okhamadhi, Pipali, Hapa, Jamwadhali, Sindhavadar, Vani Road, Modpur, Chanol, Hadmatiya, Lilapur, Jagdva, and Lakhmachiya. The construction of these overbridges and underpasses incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs. 175.25 crores.

Modernization of Railway Stations: A Global Initiative

It was stated that the Indian government has embarked on a global project to construct world-class railway stations based on a modular concept to enhance modernization and facilities at railway stations. This initiative includes the construction of world-class buildings, booking and parcel offices, lifts, escalators, lounges, convenient parking, modern coach guidance display boards, announcement systems, Wi-Fi, advanced CCTV systems, and complete lighting arrangements, among other amenities.
