Major Train Accident in Rajasthan: 36 Freight Wagons Derail While Trying to Save a Cow
A major train accident occurred in Rajasthan’s Sikar district late on Tuesday night. According to reports, 36 wagons of a freight train traveling from Phulera to Rewari derailed near Shri Madhopur New Railway Station. Several wagons piled up on each other, completely blocking the railway track. Railway officials and police teams rushed to the spot and immediately began rescue and relief operations.
Rescue Operations Underway, No Casualties Reported
Railway staff are currently working to clear the derailed wagons, due to which train movement on this route has been suspended. The railway authorities have urged passengers and locals to stay away from the tracks and follow official instructions. Rescue operations are ongoing, and no casualties have been reported so far. Officials are assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the derailment.
Cause of the Accident Still Unknown
Upon receiving information, senior railway officials and technical teams reached the accident site without delay. The rescue operation continued throughout the night with the help of cranes and heavy machinery to remove the derailed wagons. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and there has been no major damage. Railway officials said that the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Train Services Disrupted in the Region
Due to the derailment, train operations on the Ringas–Shri Madhopur corridor have been completely disrupted. Several trains have been canceled, while others have been diverted to alternate routes. Railway authorities stated that it may take several hours to clear the debris before repair work can begin. The local administration is also present at the site to monitor the situation closely.
Extent of Damage to the Freight Train
A total of 36 wagons derailed in the Sikar–Shri Madhopur accident, most of which have sustained heavy damage. Some of the wagons were carrying rice, which is currently being unloaded. The Delhi–Mumbai Dedicated Freight Corridor has been temporarily closed, and the process of removing the damaged wagons is ongoing.
Officials’ Statement
Ravi Jain, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Jaipur Zone under North Western Railway (NWR), and Praveen Kumar, Manager of the Delhi–Mumbai Dedicated Freight Corridor, confirmed that restoration and repair work is in progress. They appealed to citizens and travelers not to believe in rumors and to rely only on official updates issued by the railway department.
