Mahindra XEV 9e & BE 6e Launched: ₹18.90L Onward, 500km Range, 0-100kmph in 6.7s

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched two ‘Born Electric’ SUVs, XEV 9e and BE 6e, in the Indian market. Both electric SUVs have been developed under the company’s sub-brands XEV and BE. They are designed on Mahindra’s in-house INGLO platform, a modular skateboard architecture specifically created for electric vehicles.

Pricing and Availability

The BE 6e Pack 1 is priced at ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the XEV 9e Pack 1 starts at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Both models will enter the market in January 2025, with deliveries beginning in February 2025. According to the company, both cars can achieve a range of over 500 kilometers on a full charge and accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds.

Design and Profile

In terms of design, the two cars cater to different categories. The BE 6e boasts a sporty look, targeting the younger generation, while the XEV 9e includes all the features of a typical SUV, designed for a comfortable family ride.

Features, Pricing, and Competition

When it comes to features, both models include the company’s Adrenox software, a 360-degree camera, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and a panoramic glass roof. The BE 6e features a twin 12.3-inch screen setup, whereas the XEV 9e includes a triple-screen system with the same dimensions.

Battery and Charging

These cars offer two battery options: a 59 kWh variant and a 79 kWh system. The lithium iron phosphate batteries deliver a rear-wheel drive experience with 228 to 282 HP. The fast-charging capability is enabled through a 175 kW DC charger, which can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The certified ARAI range is 682 kilometers on a single charge.

Safety Features

Mahindra has enhanced safety by incorporating a protective cage-like structure around the passenger cabin using boron steel. The company has also reinforced the frontal structure to add an extra layer of protection. Additionally, the cars come with seven airbags, contributing to comprehensive safety measures.

The BE 6e Pack 1 is priced at ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable model in its series, while the XEV 9e starts at ₹21.90 lakh.
