Now, These Two Trains Will be Replaced by Vande Bharat: Know the Railway Ministry’s New Plan

In a written response in the Rajya Sabha on Friday (August 2), Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw provided information stating that “Indian Railways has introduced new Vande Bharat train services without replacing the existing trains.” 

This statement was given in response to questions raised by AIADMK MP C.V. Shanmugam, who had asked whether the Vande Bharat trains would replace the Rajdhani and other super-fast trains.

Vande Bharat Trains Will Not Replace Any Existing Services: Railway Minister

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw clarified that Vande Bharat train services have been introduced without altering any existing services. He stated, “As of July 29, 2024, a total of 102 Vande Bharat train services are being operated by Indian Railways. 

These trains primarily run to connect states with the broad-gauge (second) electrified network. Additionally, these chair car variant trains currently serve passengers up to a distance of 760 kilometers.”

Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that “Vande Bharat trains represent a significant step towards the modernization and development of Indian Railways. These trains are not only equipped with modern amenities but also offer a fast and comfortable travel experience. 

This service is especially beneficial for passengers who wish to complete long journeys in a shorter time.”

Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Train Service Launched

The Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat service was inaugurated on Wednesday (July 31). There has been a long-standing demand for Vande Bharat trains on the Ernakulam-Bengaluru route. This service will operate three days a week until August 25. 

The train will depart from Ernakulam on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and from Bengaluru on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays.

It is noteworthy that the trial run of the Vande Bharat Metro on the Chennai Beach to Katpadi route in Kerala was completed on Saturday (August 3). The coaches for this train were manufactured at ICF Perambur. The train is capable of running at a speed of 130 km/h.
