In a recent interview, Imtiaz revealed that the composition of this song took place at the unconventional hour of 2:30 AM. Amidst the quiet of the studio, emotions ran high as each individual present was moved by the melody being born.

Rahman’s Midnight Inspiration and Candlelit Creativity

In a recent interview with Radio Nasha, Imtiaz Ali shared an intriguing insight into the creative process behind the song “Mainu Vida Karo.” He revealed that Rahman arrived at the studio at 2:30 in the morning, with only candlelight illuminating the space.

Imtiaz and Irshad Kamil, the lyricist, were about to leave, but Rahman suggested turning off the lights and bringing out a few candles to set the mood. This unconventional approach sparked excitement among them, and Rahman began to craft the tune. Imtiaz described experiencing the joy of the entire process, much like the audience would later on.

Irshad Kamil wrote this song sitting in the studio in 45 minutes.

At that moment, Rahman humorously asked Irshad what he had done, to which Irshad replied, “Made everyone cry.” Imtiaz expressed his unwavering faith in Rahman’s ability to compose the song perfectly. As the song took shape, tears flowed freely in the studio, a testament to the profound emotional impact of their collaborative efforts.

Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra have worked together for the first time in this film.

Arijit Singh Considered for “Chamkila” Song by Imtiaz Ali

In the interview, Imtiaz also mentioned that Rahman had suggested Arijit Singh’s name for singing the song.

Additionally, he highlighted that the film “Chamkila” is a biopic of the legendary Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila from the 80s to 90s. In this film, Diljit Dosanjh portrays the titular role of Chamkila.
