Paradip Port Tops Cargo Handling, Deendayal Port Ranks Second, Ends 16-Year Reign

The Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla has secured the second position in cargo handling for the financial year 2024, while Paradip Port has claimed the first position.

Located in the western part of the country, the Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, handled a total of 132.39 million metric tons of cargo until March 31, 2024. Meanwhile, Paradip Port, located on the eastern coast of the country, emerged as the number one major port by handling 145.38 million metric tons of cargo. After consistently ranking first for 16 years, the Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, lost its top position this year. This loss occurred despite facing numerous challenges in the shipping sector, which also impacted the performance of the port.
