Tragic Suicide of B.Tech Student in Kota: Third Suicide in 12 Days, Highlights Online Coaching Strain

The incidence of suicides among coaching students is continuously rising. The third such incident in the last 12 days occurred when a 27-year-old student was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his PG accommodation. The incident came to light when his tiffin was found outside his room. The cause of the tragedy is currently unknown.

According to SHO Kaushalya of the Science City Police Station, the student, Noor Mohammad, was a resident of Veerpur in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. He was residing in the Science City Police Station area of Kota City. Upon receiving information from the PG operator, the police reached the scene. The body was brought down and taken to the MBS Hospital mortuary. Family members will arrive later for the postmortem.

Room Tiffin Found Outside

It was reported by the police that the student used to order his meals from the mess. On January 31, the person in charge of the mess left the tiffin box outside the room. On the evening of February 1, he returned to collect the tiffin. In the meantime, the previous day’s tiffin had been left outside the room. When he opened it, it was full.

Found Hanging from the Ceiling Fan

He attempted to open the student’s room but couldn’t. Upon receiving information from the tiffin vendor, the PG operator was alerted. When the operator knocked on the door, he saw that the student was hanging from the ceiling fan. Upon receiving this information, the police arrived and brought the body down. There is a possibility that the student committed suicide on January 31, which came to light on February 1. The body was placed in the mortuary.

Selection in B.Tech, College in Chennai

According to the SHO, the student had not been admission to any coaching institute at present. Contact was made with his family over the phone. According to the information received from the family, he has been selected for B.Tech and has been admission to a college in Chennai. He was taking online classes while staying in Kota. This information was also conveyed to his friends.

In Kota Since 2016

According to DSP Dharamveer, the student had been studying for JEE at a college in Kota from 2016 to 2019. After the year 2019, he did not get admission to any coaching institute in Kota. He was engaged in online studies. The family members will arrive in Kota to provide complete information.

Third Suicide in a Year

In the year 2024, this is the third incident of student suicide in Kota. Before this, a student committed suicide by hanging himself on January 29. He was preparing for JEE as a 12th-grade student. Another student, Niharika, studying in 12th grade, committed suicide on January 23 while preparing for NEET. Mohammad Zaid (19) was a resident of Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh. He stayed in a hostel in the New Rajeev Gandhi Nagar area of Jawahar Nagar police station area in Kota. He was found hanging in his hostel room. This incident came to light on January 24.
