Essential Documents Required for Voting in Gujarat Lok Sabha Election 2024

Ahead of casting their votes in the general elections for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in 2024, voters will be required to present their Voter Photo Identity Card (EPIC) for identification. Besides EPIC, the Election Commission of India has recognized an additional 12 documents for voting, ensuring a comprehensive range of options for voter identification.

Voter Identification Necessary for General Elections in 26 Lok Sabha Constituencies and 05 Vidhan Sabha Constituencies on May 7, 2024

On May 7, 2024, voting will be conducted in 26 Lok Sabha constituencies and 05 Vidhan Sabha constituencies across the state. According to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, voter identification will require the presentation of the Voter Photo Identity Card (EPIC) on the day of voting. 

In addition to EPIC, the Election Commission has approved 12 other documents for identification purposes, ensuring a smooth voting process for those who may not possess EPIC.

The list of documents recognized for voting includes Aadhaar Card, Job Card issued under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Passbook issued by Bank/Post Office with a photograph, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian Passport, Pension Document with photograph, Service Identity Cards issued by Central/State Government/Public Limited Companies to their employees, Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. 

These documents can be used for voter identification when presented during voting.

If non-resident Indians (NRIs) have registered as voters, they can present only their “Original Passport” for identification at the time of voting.
