Justice Gangopadhyay Resigns: Judge Handed Over 14 Cases to CBI, ED, Can Contest LS from Didi’s Stronghold From BJP

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the Kolkata High Court resigned from his position on Tuesday. He sent his resignation to the President, the Chief Justice of India, and the Chief Justice of the High Court. Justice Gangopadhyay stated that he has completed his duties as a judge and is now ready to explore a new role. He will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 7th. According to sources, BJP may field him in the Lok Sabha elections from the previous Medinipur district meeting. This meeting is dominated by BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari. Despite experiencing relief from the Trinamool Congress due to his resignation, in the last two years, he had handed over 14 cases linked with the Mamata government to the CBI and ED. At that time, Trinamool had also criticized him for working towards the BJP’s interests.
