Vadodara Accident: Truck Crushes Student on Activa, Captured on CCTV; Teen With 10-Year US Visa Dies Before Scheduled Trip

In Vadodara city’s Karelibaug area, a tragic accident occurred when a speeding ICV truck collided with a student riding an Activa scooter. The 12th-grade student succumbed to her injuries following the crash.

The entire incident at the crossroads was captured on CCTV, showing the Activa rider, who was making a turn, being struck by the truck from behind. The footage reveals the truck’s tire hitting the student, causing blood to flow from her hand and nose. The student died before receiving medical treatment.

The Karelibaug police have arrested the truck driver and initiated an investigation. It is noteworthy that the student, who was set to travel to the United States within a month with a 10-year visa, was tragically taken by the truck before her journey could begin.

Deceased Was Returning Home After Shopping

A 17-year-old student from Gorwa, Vadodara, reported to the Karelibaug police station that she and her cousin Keya Dineshbhai Patel (17), her aunt’s daughter Hir Amitbhai Patel, and her friend Aysi had gone out for shopping. They took her Activa and Hir’s scooter to Bombay Cell near the Water Tank Circle around 4 PM.

Collision with Speeding Truck

While returning home after shopping in the evening, my Activa was being driven by Keya, and I was sitting behind her. We made a U-turn from the road past Bombay Cell towards Muktnand and were heading from the Water Tank Circle to Amitnagar.

As we were turning the Activa from the Water Tank Circle towards Amitnagar, an ICV truck driver, speeding and suddenly making a turn, collided with our Activa. The impact caused me to fall, resulting in injuries to my left foot and left knee.

Keya Patel was driving the Activa and her aunt's daughter was sitting behind.

Student’s Nose Began Bleeding After the Accident

When I got up, I saw that my cousin Keya had fallen with the Activa. She was bleeding from her nose and right knee and had lost consciousness. Someone present at the scene called 108 for an ambulance. Before the ambulance arrived, my uncle, Hardikbhai Patel, reached the location.

Denied Treatment at Two Hospitals

We took Keya to Navrang Hospital for treatment, but they refused to admit her. We then went to Shukan Hospital, where they recommended transferring her to Sayaji Hospital for further treatment.

We brought her to Sayaji Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead. I have filed a complaint against the ICV truck driver at the Karelibaug police station. The police have arrested the accused ICV truck driver, Harish Gohil, and have initiated further investigation.

A crowd of people gathered at the scene.

Accident Captured on CCTV

The entire accident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing the ICV truck driver crushing the student on the Activa. After the incident, a crowd gathered at the scene, and they promptly informed the police and called for an ambulance at 108.

Police nabbed the truck driver.

Deceased Was Scheduled to Travel to the U.S. in a Month

The deceased, Keya Patel, had recently received a 10-year visa to the United States and was scheduled to travel there within a month.

She had recently traveled to Delhi for visa-related matters. Tragically, she lost her life in the accident before she could make the journey to America.

Relatives Had Gathered Before Raksha Bandhan

The uncle and aunts had gathered at the uncle’s home in Sama before Raksha Bandhan. They had gone out for shopping and were returning home when the accident occurred.
