Lizard Found in Samosa Chutney in Ahmedabad
Complaints of insects and foreign objects being found in food items continue to surface in Ahmedabad. A fresh case emerged from the Ramdev CholaFali shop in Vejalpur, where a woman discovered a lizard inside the chutney served with samosas. She had brought the chutney home, and upon opening it, noticed what looked like coriander leaves. However, when she tried to remove it, she realized it was a lizard. The matter was immediately reported to the Municipal Corporation’s complaint helpline.

Shopkeeper Refused to Acknowledge the Issue
After finding the lizard, the woman approached the shopkeeper to inform him about the incident. However, he refused to accept responsibility. Left with no choice, the family lodged a formal complaint with the AMC Food Department by calling the helpline number 155303. Authorities have confirmed that the matter is under investigation and further action will follow.
Previous Case: Worm Found in Dosa Sambar in Nikol
Just 18 days earlier, a customer dining at “Khau Dhara Point,” a food court in Nikol, found a worm in the sambar served with his dosa. When the customer and his wife scooped a spoonful, they spotted the worm floating inside. The staff reportedly ignored the issue and even attempted to take away the bowl to avoid escalation.
Complaint Registered with AMC
The customer, identified as Tusharbhai, insisted on raising the issue despite the staff’s negligence. He filed an official complaint with AMC’s Food Department, questioning how such unhygienic practices could occur at a busy eatery.
AMC Action Taken
Dr. Bhavin Joshi, an AMC Food Department officer, confirmed that after receiving the complaint, officials inspected Khau Dhara Point. The food court has been temporarily shut down and instructed to maintain proper hygiene before reopening.
