Maruti Suzuki Car Price Reduction: New Prices for Alto K10, Celerio, Fronx, and 9 Other Models Implemented

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a price reduction for nine of its models, including the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon-R, Swift, DZire, Baleno, Fronx, and Ignis. This announcement was made by the country’s largest car manufacturer in its exchange filing on June 1.

The company has reduced the prices of the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) variants of these nine models by ₹5,000. These new prices came into effect on June 1, 2024. While Maruti Suzuki has not disclosed the reasons behind this price reduction, it is speculated that the company aims to boost sales by making its AGS variants more affordable.

Recent Price Adjustments by Maruti Suzuki

Prior to the recent price reductions, Maruti Suzuki had increased the prices of select variants in April 2024. Specifically, the prices of the Swift and certain variants of the Grand Vitara saw hikes.

The Swift experienced a price increase of up to ₹25,000, while the Sigma variant of the Grand Vitara went up by ₹19,000. This price hike followed an earlier increase in January 2024, where the company raised prices across all models by 0.45%. Maruti Suzuki attributed these increases to inflationary pressures and higher input costs.

Maruti’s Automatic Transmission Technology: AGS

Auto Gear Shift (AGS) is an innovative automatic gear-shifting transmission technology introduced by Maruti Suzuki in 2014. This technology combines the benefits of both manual and automatic transmissions, offering drivers the best of both worlds.

The AGS system is equipped with an intelligent gear shift control actuator, operated by an electronic controller unit. This setup allows the system to manage the gear and clutch without the need for driver intervention, making gear shifts smoother and more effortless.

By automating the gear-shifting process, AGS enhances the driving experience, providing convenience and ease, particularly in heavy traffic conditions. This technology has been a significant factor in Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to make their cars more user-friendly and appealing to a broader range of customers.
