10th Board Exam Pattern:

In the 10th board exam, each subject paper carries a total of 80 marks. The remaining 20 marks will be assessed through periodic tests, assignments, skill-based activities, or project work. The examination structure for the 10th board includes 40% multiple-choice questions (MCQs), 20% situation-based questions, and 40% short or long-answer type questions. Students are required to complete all questions within a three-hour time frame.

12th Board Exam Pattern:

For the 12th board exams, papers in Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics are of 80 marks, with an additional 20 marks awarded based on internal tests. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology papers are allocated 70 marks, and the practical exams account for the remaining 30 marks. Other subjects’ papers are uniformly set at 80 marks, with 20 marks being assigned based on project or assignment submissions. The duration for all questions is three hours.

Practical Exams for Class 10-12 to Take Place Between January 1 and February 15

The dates for the practical examinations preceding the board exams have been officially disclosed. Both the practical exams for 10th and 12th standards are slated to occur within the timeframe of January 1 to February 15, 2024. Earlier, in July 2023, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had issued a notification outlining that the duration of the 10th-12th board exams for the current academic year would span approximately 55 days. Commencing on February 15, 2024, the examinations are scheduled to conclude on April 10, 2024.

The CBSE, in its notification, further emphasized that institutions conducting any examinations are urged to establish their examination dates in consideration of the board examination schedule, thus ensuring optimal coordination with the CBSE Board. No Developments on Bi-Annual Board Exams Yet

Despite Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s earlier announcement that Class 10 and 12 board exams would be conducted twice a year, with students having the option to choose whether to appear once or twice, there has been no subsequent update on this matter. The minister emphasized that the flexibility in the examination system was introduced for the convenience of students. However, as of now, there has been no additional information or developments regarding the implementation of bi-annual board exams. CBSE Board Exam Results for 2023

In the academic year 2023, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) witnessed notable performance statistics in both the 10th and 12th board examinations. The pass percentage for the 10th standard stood at an impressive 93.12%, while the 12th standard achieved a commendable pass percentage of 87.33%.

The CBSE board examinations are conducted nationwide, encompassing more than 200 subjects and spanning over 7000 examination centers across the country. In the 10th standard examinations, a substantial total of 21,658,05 candidates participated. Among them, a remarkable 20,167,79 candidates, translating to an impressive 93.12%, successfully cleared the examination.

Shifting focus to the 12th standard, a significant cohort of 16,80,256 students was registered for the board exam. Of this total, 16,60,511 students actively appeared for the examination. Impressively, 14,50,174 students, constituting 87.33% of the appearing candidates, successfully completed the 12th board examination.

These statistics underscore the widespread participation and commendable success rates achieved by CBSE board students across the diverse array of subjects and examination centers throughout the country in the academic year 2023.
