Air Strikes on Pakistan Disrupt Air Travel Across India: Flights Cancelled, 11 Airports Shut Down
New Delhi, May 7 – India’s air strike on Pakistan has had a widespread impact on air travel across the country. Multiple flights have been cancelled and several airports have been shut down temporarily due to heightened security concerns.
In Gujarat, all Air India flights from Rajkot, Bhuj, and Jamnagar have been cancelled. Additionally, flights arriving and departing from Ahmedabad to these destinations have also been suspended.
Operations at 11 airports, including Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Rajkot, Dharamshala, Amritsar, Bhuj, and Jamnagar, have been completely halted. In Delhi alone, 95 flights have been cancelled and 113 delayed, affecting domestic and international travel significantly.
Air India announced that all flights to and from nine airports – Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot – will remain suspended until 12 PM on May 7. Two international flights headed for Amritsar have been diverted to Delhi. Passengers have been advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Helpline numbers (011-69329333 / 011-69329999) have been issued to assist affected passengers.
At Rajkot International Airport alone, 11 flights from IndiGo and Air India were cancelled today, disrupting travel plans for over 3,200 passengers. Cancelled routes include five flights to Mumbai, two each to Delhi and Pune, and one each to Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Airlines Respond
IndiGo stated that due to changes in airspace conditions, flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Bikaner, and Dharamshala are affected. The airline urged passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.

SpiceJet announced the temporary closure of key North Indian airports, including Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, until further notice due to “Operation Sindoor.” Passengers have been advised to plan their travel carefully and refer to the airline’s website for updates.

Air India Express has also cancelled all flights to and from Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, and Hindon until noon on May 7. Passengers can check flight updates through the airline’s chatbot ‘TIA’ on WhatsApp (+91 63600 12345).

Public Reactions
At Delhi Airport, passengers expressed mixed reactions to the strike and its impact. One passenger, Pragya, told news agency ANI, “India did the right thing by retaliating against the terror attack. Everyone talks about peace, but Pakistan doesn’t understand, and this was a necessary response.”
