Ather’s E-Scooter 450 Apex Hits the Road: Boasting a 157km Range, Ready to Take On Ola S1 Pro
Ather Energy has today (January 6) launched its flagship electric scooter ‘450 Apex’ in the Indian market. The electric two-wheeler manufacturer based in Bengaluru claims that this transparent-bodied scooter is the world’s first of its kind. The company has priced it at INR 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the e-scooter started on December 19, and customers can secure their booking by paying a token amount of INR 2,500.
Ather Energy’s 450 Apex Anniversary Edition: Exclusive in Indium Blue Color
Ather Energy’s co-founder, Tarun Mehta, has announced that the 10th-anniversary electric scooter will be launched as a limited edition, and its production will only commence based on demand, starting from October 2024. The delivery of this new e-scooter is set to begin in March 2024. It will compete directly with the new Ola S1 Pro. Speaking about the design, the 450 Apex will be available exclusively in the Indium Blue color option, featuring transparent side body panels. Apart from the color, there are no hardware changes.
Ather 450 Apex: Performance
Ather Energy claims that the Ather 450 Apex offers a superior performance and comfortable riding experience, comparable to traditional 125CC petrol scooters in the market. This limited edition model comes with several upgrades over the Ather 450X. In terms of performance, it is equipped with a 7.0 kW electric motor, generating 9.38 bhp of power and 26 Nm of peak torque. The 450 Apex can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.9 seconds. Additionally, it can achieve a top speed of 100 kmph, surpassing the 450X (with a top speed of 90 kmph). The scooter features five ride modes to cater to different preferences.
Coasting Regain Feature for Improved Efficiency
Ather Energy claims that the flagship model, Ather 450X, boasts a 3.7 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive 157 km range on a full charge. The battery can be charged from 0 to 100% at home in just 5 hours and 45 minutes. By utilizing the Ather Grid fast charger, the 450X can gain a charging speed of 1.5 km per minute. Moreover, the scooter features the Coasting Regain feature, functioning similarly to a regenerative braking system in electric vehicles. This feature contributes to increased efficiency by capturing and utilizing energy during deceleration and braking. With this technology, Ather aims to enhance the overall riding experience and maximize the scooter’s range.

Ather aims to make electric scooters more accessible to a broader audience by offering a model that balances performance and features with a more budget-friendly cost.
