Terrorists Attack Security Forces’ Convoy in Kashmir; Air Force Personnel Martyred: Encounter Underway

On Saturday evening (May 4), a terrorist attack occurred on Air Force personnel in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. Five soldiers were injured, airlifted, and taken to the hospital in Udhampur. Unfortunately, one of the soldiers succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while another remains in critical condition.

Intense Ambush Unfolds

The attack unfolded in a remote area of Poonch. Terrorists unleashed heavy gunfire on security force vehicles, one of which belonged to the Air Force. Both vehicles were heading towards the Sanauli Top. The gunfire pierced through the vehicles’ fronts and sides, causing chaos.

Security Forces Respond

According to military sources, Garud Special Forces of the Indian Air Force have been deployed to the scene to assess the situation. The army and Jammu and Kashmir Police are also present. The area has been cordoned off, and search operations are underway.

By-elections in Poonch Rajouri-Anantnag Constituency

Voting will take place daily for 25 men in the by-election for the Poonch Rajouri-Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.

Earlier Attack in Surnakote

Last year in December, there was an attack in Surnakote. On December 21, terrorists attacked a military convoy, resulting in the martyrdom of five soldiers. Four terrorists were reportedly involved in the incident. They used American M-4 carbine assault rifles to fire shots. These shots penetrated the steel of the military vehicles and caused casualties among the soldiers.

Response from People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF)

The People’s Anti-Fascist Front took responsibility for countering the attack. Terrorists also posted pictures of the attack site on social media, claiming to have used M-4 rifles.
